Roadblocks to Revival: Malachi Series
Forgotten Love
Malachi 1:1-5
January 19, 2025
Has it ever seemed to you like you were on God’s bad list? Sometimes things never seem to go our way, our prayers don’t get answered the way we think they should, and life is just too hard. It may have seemed that way to the Nation of Israel about 400 years before the birth of Christ.
God seemingly made no distinction between Israel and the pagan people that surrounded them. Life was hard and God seemed distant and uncaring. God used the prophet Malachi to challenge the Israelites to see how they had forgotten God’s love for them. Sometimes it’s the same for us today when life gets tough. We can forget how much God loves us until we think about what He has already done for us. In the utmost expression of His love for people, God sent His son to us. For many of us, the first Bible verse we ever encountered was John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” With the rapid pace and many difficulties in life we face today, it’s easy to forget how much God loves us. Is life difficult? Yes! Do things go wrong? Of course! Do the people around us sometimes give us fits? Absolutely! But take a few minutes today and ponder the truth of the Gospel: God sent His son Who died in our place to pay the price for our own sinfulness. To receive this free gift of eternal life we must turn away from our sin and turn to Jesus and believe what Jesus did for us. It’s just that simple. Think about that today and maybe that will help change your perspective on this difficult life.
