Saul: A Leader of the People's Choosing

Saul was a tall and handsome man, and was "the desire of all Israel". Saul had the outward appearance of a king that the people could be proud of. But a quick look at Saul reveals that he is incompetent, spiritually blind and not a man after God's own heart. In comparing Saul, the first King with Jesus, the King of Kings, we can clearly see that in rejecting God as their King, Israel was getting a king very much of the people's choosing.
